From a comment on Python Optional Typing Redux:

"I've been programming for over 25 years, and wrote C++ for almost ten years. I have developed several real-world applications using Python, since version 1.5. Not once have I wished for static typing in Python. I can't recall a single bug that would have been prevented if I had used static typing."

Try telling it to the Java folks. Oh, but of course, they'll counter with the usual malarky, such as "your code becomes self documenting!" or "but, we'll be able to create better IDE tools and use IntelliSense", etc, etc.

The best way to document code is with documentation, not static typing. As for IDE's, designing a language around toolsets is total absurdity.
